L'Orangerie

L’Orangerie (4 persons) is a huge space with very high ceilings. In the 19th century, it was the greenhouse, sheltering the potted orange trees, laurels or palm trees over the winter months. The Orangerie still serves that purpose today, and when the plants go back out in April, it is rented as a gîte. Therefore, few modifications were needed to keep the original character of the building.

The high floor-to-ceiling windows provide a magical light and sweeping views over the park. Architectural elements were chosen to match the spirit of the 19th century orangerie: tall wrought-iron ceiling lights, garden sculptures, or the old pink stone sink and its copper faucet.

The huge main room includes a sitting area with a comfortable sofa, armchairs, a beautiful armoire and a woodstove; the master bedroom area offers a canopy bed 160 x 200; the kitchen area has a very old stone sink, a small stove, microwave and dishwasher. A nice space can be used  for dinners, as a workshop or for drawing.

The former potting-room is now a bedroom, with a 140 x 200 bed. A few steps lead up to a mezzanine with a single bed, a table and a chest. The bathroom has a jacuzzi bath with shower, a washbasin and a toilet. L’Orangerie is the perfect place for anyone who wants something else than the tile floors with Ikea furniture…

Sheets and towels can be provided so the beds are made when you arrive. A washing machine, ironing board and a freezer are at your disposal in the basement of the château. Children’s beds, highchairs, etc. are available upon request.

A private terrace enclosed in shrubberies lets you appreciate fully the beauty of the park. Meals can be cooked on a stove or on the barbecue to enjoy dinners outside. Of course, you can sit anywhere in the park, under the centuries-old trees, to listen to the birds or enjoy the peacefulness of the place. Smoking indoors is not allowed.
